Hello and welcome to my website!

My name is Ian MacDonald and I have been shooting and playing with cameras since 2006. My favorite subject to shoot during my free time is landscapes. Some scenes may have been captured before, but the light is always changing and a different look each time you go. Astro photography is also another close favorite of mine. Being able to capture images of the night sky has long been a passion of mine. Nothing else puts me in my place as much as looking out into the starry night. What I’ve loved about cameras these days is that it gives us the ability to see details and lights we can’t see with our naked eye. I personally try to be a Swiss army knife when it comes to my photography. Over the years I’ve shot concerts, sporting events, back country skiing, long exposures, lightning and more. I believe that having as much experience in challenging light will be helpful down the road and an added experience for successful shots. Moving forward I want to continue finding challenging subjects to shoot and to treat each one as a learning experience so that the next shot will be perfect.

Why Do I Love It?

To me photography is the art of capturing a moment in time. To be able to look back on memories and experiences I’ve had means the world to me. I not only want to take a shot for a memory, I also want to do it well. Investing in equipment that will extend or widen my eye will allow me to tell my own unique story of where I am or who I’m with. Combined with that is the limitless possibilities for creativity and creating an image that is your own. So always have a camera near you because you’ll never know when the light will change and a moment that you want to hold on to will happen.
